Sad news to report from the depths of the Pacific Ocean.

A team of Japanese scientists recently revealed that they have found plastic in the Mariana Trench, the deepest part of the ocean.

The researchers found a plastic bag near the bottom of the Mariana Trench.

In total reserachers found 3,425 cans, pieces of plastic and stray fishing gear cataloged and photographed by deep-sea submersibles, most of which are in the Pacific Ocean.
