Plane Struck by Lightning

An American Airlines flight heading to New York's La Guardia airport was forced to make an emergency landing on Thursday night after it was struck by lightning.

American Airlines flight 4233 was on route from Raleigh-Durham International Airport in North Carolina when the pilot reported a lightning strike.

It I was diverted to JFK airport. Passengers on board described a horrifying experience with one saying there was a flash of light followed by what sounded like an explosion.

There were no reports of injuries. The FAA said it is investigating the incident.
