Perseid Meteor Shower Peaks Friday Night

Posted by on Thursday, August 10, 2017

The Perseid Meteor Shower peaks on Friday night.

That means we will be able to see between 150-200 meteors an hour.

Stargazers will see the most meteors in the pre-dawn hours.

The shower is visible from mid-July each year, with the peak in activity between 9 and 14 August, depending on the particular location of the stream.

They can be seen all across the sky.

Most Perseids burn up in the atmosphere while at heights above 80 kilometres.
