A large low pressure system located about 1600 miles east-southeast of the Big Island of Hawaii continues to produce a large area of disorganized shower and thunderstorm activity.  Environmental conditions are expected to become more conducive for development, and a tropical depression could form during the next day or two while the system moves west-northwestward at about 30 km/h. Formation chance through 48 hours is medium near 60 percent, and formation chance through 5 days is high near 90 percent.
