The winter storm that is impacting much of the northern half of the United States caused several air travel disruptions.

Over the weekend hundreds of flights were canceled in Washington and Oregon.

On the other side of the nation, the Federal Aviation Administration issued a ground stop for some arriving flights at JFK Airport on Tuesday.

Nationwide more than 2,000 flights were canceled Tuesday.

Even a military plane had to turn around and return to Washington D.C.. It was carrying members of Congress to Michigan for the funeral of former U.S. Rep. John Dingell. Severe weather was the reason for the turnaround.
