Over 1000 Dead in Haiti

It has been about a week since Hurricane Matthew first made landfall in Haiti, the Dominican Republic, Jamaica, and Cuba. Matthew caused unimaginable destruction in those countries.

Of all the areas impacted by Matthew, Haiti was the hardest hit 1.4 million people need assistance at this time. Some towns and villages have been almost completely destroyed.

The death toll in Haiti has topped 1,000. Crops and food reserves have been destroyed.

Now the threat of cholera is growing.

Not only this, but heavy damage has been reported to school infrastructure, and many children have lost books and school supplies.

The United Nations appealed for $119 million US on Monday to bring life-saving assistance to 750,000 people in southwest Haiti.
