A slow moving disturbance moved across Eastern Ontario that generated significant rainfall.

Environment Canada issued rainfall warnings for Ottawa and surrounding areas.

There was major flooding in the regions, water several centimeters deep on roads and vehicles submerged.

Some areas could end up seeing over 100 mm by the time all is said and done. Localized amounts of 200 mm are not out of the question for the St. Lawrence valley.

It wasn't necessarily the amount of rain that fell but rather how quickly it fell.

Halton Hills Fire Department rescued 17 people from the Credit River on Monday.
