Over 100 Dead Following Snowstorm

So far 119 people have been confirmed dead after avalanches along the Afghan-Pakistani border triggered by heavy snowfall.

Rescue crews continue to forced their way through snow covered roads to get to the areas hardest hit.

At least 89 people have been injured and 190 homes are destroyed.

Teams have recovered 48 bodies from villages and more than 1,000 hectares of farmland have been destroyed.

On Sunday, Afghanistan's government declared a public holiday due to the heavy snowfall across the country.

The United Nations has offered its assistance.

More snow is expected in the area later this week.
