Svalbard, Norway is a territory that sits above the Arctic Circle.

The area is home to 2,700 residents, 2,000 of which live in the town of Longyearbyen.

Residents endure both months of continuous daylight or continuous darkness.

The island is home to the Global Seed Vault, an underground store of the world’s plant seeds that are kept safe there in case of global catastrophe.
