A North Carolina woman is facing charges after taking in pets that belonged to residents who were fleeing Hurricane Florence.

She took in 27 dogs and cats, she said the goal was, "to make sure that they were not out there drowning".

Tammie Hedges voluntarily surrendered the animals to Wayne County Animal Services.
