Residents of Newfoundland who were impacted by the historic rainfall this past weekend may be allocated financial assistance.

In order to qualify for assistance, the following criteria must be met: Property must have sustained damage and damages must be verified by an independent third party as being caused by the disaster.

Communities affected by the recent rain event can also receive funding.

Fire and Emergency Services-Newfoundland and Labrador (FES-NL), through its Emergency Services Division, is responsible for the administration of the federal government’s Disaster Financial Assistance Arrangements.

More information can be found on the provincial government's website at http://www.gov.nl.ca/rainstorm2016/

The hardest hit areas were the Connaigre Peninsula, central, and the south coast of the island portion of the province.
