Mount Sinabung Erupts, Prompting Aviation Warning

Mount Sinabung in Indonesia erupted on Monday.

The eruption send a cloud of ash 

The peak shot ash more than 5000 metres into the air. This prompted a "red notice" to airlines.

No injuries or deaths have been reported.

Mount Sinabung is a Pleistocene-to-Holocene stratovolcano of andesite and dacite in the Karo plateau of Karo Regency, North Sumatra, Indonesia, 40 kilometres from the Lake Toba supervolcano.
