An area of low pressure will bring some rain and yes even some snow to portions of Newfoundland beginning today.

Rain will begin across northern and western Newfoundland today. The rain will then spread into central parts of the Island by early Sunday morning.

Cool northerly winds will move in on the backside of the low Saturday night or Sunday morning. As a result some of the rain will change to snow, especially for areas such as western, central, and northern Newfoundland.

Snowfall amounts of 5 cm is possible, however, locally and over higher terrain 10 cm of snow is possible.

Even more snow is expected in Labrador, Cartwright to Black Tickle could end up with 15 to 20 cm of snow over the weekend.

For Eagle River 15 to 20 cm of snow is expected also. But the area could also see 20 to 40 mm of rain.
