Mixed bag of weather for the Avalon and Burin

Posted by on Saturday, January 16, 2016

A low pressure system will track south of eastern Newfoundland tonight bringing snow, ice pellets, and freezing rain to the Avalon and Burin Peninsula's.

Precipitation will start along the Burin just after midnight tonight and arrive on the Avalon by no later than 3 am.

For Marystown 5 to 10 cm of snow is possible, Carbonear 5 to 10 cm of snow, St. John's 7 to 10 cm, and Placentia 5 to 10 cm, however this number may vary due to a transition to freezing rain.

Gusty winds are also expected with this system.

An extended period of ice pellets is possible with the risk of freezing rain.
