Minor System to Bring Mixed Weather to Atlantic Canada

Posted by Kyle Brookings on Monday, December 17, 2018

An area of low pressure will approach Atlantic Canada from the southwest.

Rain and or snow will begin across southern Nova Scotia on Monday morning and spread across the province as the day progresses. Most areas will see about 5 to 10 cm of snow. The heaviest rain will fall over southern areas of the province.

Snow beings in New Brunswick by mid-morning. Generally 5 to 10 cm is expected.

On Prince Edward Island, precipitation will be in the form of snow. The exception is eastern sections where snow will become mixed with rain and then change back to snow. 15 to 20 cm is likely in Charlottetown.

Snow will spread across Newfoundland on Monday night. Snow may become mixed with ice pellets in central before most areas change to rain. About 2 to 5 cm of snow is possible in Central and the Avalon, on the West Coast we could see 5 to 10 cm of snow.
