The UK Government has deployed additional soldiers to deal with whats being described as "unprecedented" flooding in Yorkshire and Lancashire.

This brings the number of military personnel deployed to 500.

Prime Minister David Cameron has said that another 500 soldiers are on stand-by.

The water continues to rise and the number of power outages continue to mount.

Over 1500 homes have been flooded.

A band of rain associated with a cold front will become slow-moving across eastern counties of Northern Ireland for a time this evening. Hourly accumulations of 10 to 15 mm in an hour are possible, with 20 to 25 mm in 3 to 4 hours in a few spots before the rain clears away east around midnight.
