A storm ripped through Ireland causing a 215-year old tree to be unearthed. In the process it also unearthed a human skeleton. The remains were entangled in the roots of the tree.

The skeleton dates back to about 1000 years according to archaeologists and is that of a male who they believe was about 17 to 20 years old and may have suffered a violent death.

He had visible injuries to the ribs and hand.

The remains are among the earliest human bones ever found in the county.
