Mars Closest in Decade

Posted by on Saturday, May 21, 2016

Early May 22, Mars will aligned in a straight path with the sun and Earth. This will show that just as the sun sets in the west the sunlit side of Mars will be visible all night long.

Also on May 30 Mars will make its closest approach to Earth. Mars will appear unusually large and bright through telescopes for the next few weeks.

However some hoaxes are circulating that Mars will be as big as the full moon. This is not true.

Mars is the fourth planet from the Sun and the second-smallest planet in the Solar System, after Mercury.
