Talk about long distance charges. A man from the United Kingdom has been trying to make contact to astronaut's on the International Space Station.

From his shed he did indeed manage to establish contact with the ISS. He spoke to an U.S. astronaut for about 45 seconds.

His response was "Receiving you - welcome aboard the International Space Station."
The International Space Station is the habitable artificial satellite, in low Earth orbit. It orbits Earth at 400 km. Launched November 20, 1998 at a cost of $150 billion USD the ISS had had countless astronaut's on board from numerous countries.
