Low Could Give Blizzard Conditions in E. NL Friday

Posted by on Tuesday, January 17, 2017

An area of low pressure is expected to pass just south of eastern Newfoundland on Friday afternoon.

Based on the current track, snow will start on the Avalon and Burin on Friday afternoon with strong wind, possibly giving blizzard conditions.

If the low tracks farther west it could mean more mixed precipitation for the Avalon and heavier snow in central and western Newfoundland. A more eastward track will mean more snow.

There is still a huge degree of uncertainty with regards to the low's exact track. We are monitoring any developments.

The low will push offshore on Saturday Night.
