Local Man Offers Alternative to Harmful Steel Barbecue Scrapers

Posted by on Sunday, May 21, 2017

If you plan on firing up the grill this weekend, you probably shouldn't use a steel-bristled brush to clean you grill.

Jason Janes, who calls Humber Valley home, has come up with a new and safer product.

Janes makes wooden barbecue scrapers, from juniper.

The locally produced safe alternative to dangerous wire BBQ brushes are available online or at local retailers in St. John's - The Bee's Knees, The Travel Bug, Steady Brook - George's Ski World, and St. Anthony - Grenfell Historical, and The Outdoor Shoppe.

Canadian surgeons are urging people to throw out wire-bristled barbecue brushes, because none of them have figured out a surefire way of removing the wires when they get stuck in people's throats.
