Lion Air Flight Crashes Shortly After Takeoff

Flight JT 610, operated by Lion Air, has crashed into the ocean with 189 people on board shortly after takeoff form Jakarta, Indonesia.

The Boeing 737 passenger plane was headed for Pangkal Pinang.

It lost contact shortly after takeoff.

Rescuers have recovered some remains.

So far there is no sign of any survivors.

The cause of the crash is unknown.

Lion Air, is an Indonesian low-cost airline. Based in Jakarta, Indonesia, Lion Air is the country's largest privately run airline, the second largest low-cost airline in Southeast Asia after AirAsia and the largest airline of Indonesia.
