Golfers in Lafayette, Louisiana were lucky that they left the course when they did.

Those at the Purdue’s Birck Boilermaker Golf Complex were sent seeking shelter when thunderstorms roared through the area on  Tuesday.

There was a lightning strike on the course. It hit on the 11th fairway of the Kampen course.

Lightning strikes Earth about 100 times every single second. Each bolt can contain up to one billion volts of electricity.
