Lightning Kills More Than 300 Reindeer

A lightning strike in central Norway has killed more than 300 wild reindeer.

Reindeer tend to stay very close to each other in bad weather, which may be the cause of the high number of deaths.
The thunderstorm on Friday killed 323 animals including 70 calves.

Authorities are now discussing what to do with the dead animals. Normally, they are just left where they are to let nature take its course.

Basically the entire reindeer herd has been wiped out.
