Large Waves & Swell along Northeast & East Coast of Newfoundland

Posted by on Thursday, January 7, 2016

A low currently over Greenland will create large waves and swell along the Northeast Coast and East Coast of Newfoundland beginning tonight.

Wave heights of 4 to 5 meters along with pounding surf are possible over the next 24 to 48 hours. During this event large waves may appear with no warning.

It is important to avoid the shoreline. You can easily be swept into the ocean.

Environment Canada issued a Special Weather Statement for the Avalon Peninsula North, Bay of Exploits, Bonavista North, Bonavista Peninsula, Clarenville and vicinity, St. John's and vicinity, and Terra Nova.
