Evacuation orders have been lifted in McDowell County, North Carolina. There were fears that the Lake Tahoma Dam could collapse after rain lead to widespread flooding and landslides near the site. The rain was brought on by Tropical Depression Alberto. McDowell County Emergency Management said there was no danger after an inspection, and all evacuation orders were lifted. Governor Roy Cooper declared a state of emergency for western North Carolina as a response to the flooding.
