Wintertime La Nina patterns

La Niña has officially arrived and it is expected to remain in place throughout the Winter.

Forecasters say the climate phenomena will likely contribute to drier and warmer weather in the southern U.S. and wetter, cooler conditions in the Pacific Northwest and across to the northern tier of the nation this winter.

For us in Canada we can expect colder weather across the Prairies and wetter weather for the BC Lower Mainland.

La Nina is a cooling of the water in the equatorial Pacific that occurs at irregular intervals and is associated with widespread changes in weather patterns complementary to those of El Niño, but less extensive and damaging in their effects.
