The controversial Keystone pipeline has spilled about 800,000 liters of oil on Thursday in South Dakota.

Once the leak was detected the pipeline was shut down.

There is no risk to drinking water according to state officials.

The spill happened on agricultural land.

State official say that the clean up of the leak will be the responsibility of TransCanada.

For the company the spill couldn't have happened at a worse time. Nebraska will be making an announcement on whether to approve the proposed Keystone XL oil pipeline.
