2015 was the hottest year on record for the globe and as we enter 2016 it is much the same story.

According to NASA January was record warm. Also so far February has continued the trend of pronounced heat in the Arctic with no signs of it letting up soon.

January has been the fourth month in a row where the globe has been more than 1°C (1.8°F) above normal.

Records date back 135 years.
