Is Winter Over?

Posted by on Sunday, February 21, 2016

Winter officially ends Saturday, March 19. This is the last day of the astronomical winter in the Northern Hemisphere, but has winter already ended for Newfoundland and Labrador?

Later this week on Friday we will see temperatures near the low double digits across the Island.

Here are some normal high temperatures:
St. John's: 0°C
Gander: -3°C
Grand Falls-Windsor: -2°C
Corner Brook: -3°C
Labrador City: -12°C

Long range models are projecting temperatures above normal for the south coast, the Avalon and portions of central Newfoundland. For the west coast, Northern Peninsula, and Labrador temperatures are expected to be near normal. For the month of March.

Having said that it is not uncommon to get big storms throughout March and April or even May. Also lets not forget about Shelia's Brush.
