As of this morning data from a NOAA Hurricane Hunter aircraft indicate that the maximum sustained winds have increased to near 195 km/h with higher gusts.

Irma is predicted to strengthen through Tuesday night.

Irma is a category 3 hurricane.

There are hurricane watches in effect for Antigua, Barbuda, Anguilla, Montserrat, St. Kitts, and Nevis, Saba, St. Eustatius, and Saint Maarten, and Saint Martin and Saint Barthelemy.

The storm is expected to track westward over the next few hours and then northwestward toward northern Cuba.

After that models are not agreeing. The storm could track anywhere from coastal Alabama to Bermuda.

Those along the U.S. East Coast should monitor this storm.
