Hurricane Willa Makes Landfall in Mexico

On Tuesday evening Hurricane Willa made landfall in west-central Mexico.

The storm carved a path of destructive winds and flooding rain.

Willa was a Category 3 upon making landfall.

The National Hurricane Center said Hurricane Willa made landfall at 7 PM MDT near Isla Del Bosque, Sinaloa, or about 15 km south of Escuinapa.  Maximum winds at landfall were estimated to be 195 km/h, with a minimum central pressure of 965 mb.

Willa did reach Category 5 status on Monday.
