There is an area of low pressure over Nicaragua, Honduras, and the adjacent Caribbean waters that is being watched closely.

The area is producing showers and thunderstorms.

No significant development is likely over the next couple of days, however, the system will move slowly northward over the northwestern Caribbean Sea over the next several days and some development is possible at that time.

Locally heavy rains are likely over portions of Central America during the next several days.

Models show the system likely becoming at least a tropical depression by the weekend.

The system will most likely track over western Cuba and just south of Florida.
