Huge Contrails Spotted in Florida Sky

Posted by Kyle Brookings on Friday, December 28, 2018

Something in the sky over the Florida Panhandle caught a lot of people attention on Tuesday.

A ring of contrails was spotted in the sky near Destin.

It was caused by a fighter pilot from the United States Air Force.

The contrails were visible on satellite imagery and resembled a figure-eight.

Contrail's are line-shaped clouds produced by aircraft engine exhaust or changes in air pressure, typically at aircraft cruise altitudes several miles above the Earth's surface. Contrails are composed primarily of water, in the form of ice crystals.
