Hurricane Gert became the second hurricane of the season last night.

The storm poses no direct threat to Atlantic Canada, however we will still see some impacts.

An unrelated area of low pressure will approach Atlantic Canada from northern Quebec. Some tropical moisture from Gert may merge with that low and could increase rainfall totals on Wednesday.

Those on the south-facing coastlines of Nova Scotia and Newfoundland will likely experience some swells from Gert on Wednesday and into Thursday also.

These waves could reach 2 metres in Nova Scotia and 2 to 3 metres along south-facing coastlines of Newfoundland.
