Heavy Snow, Rain, and Strong Wind In Atlantic Canada

Posted by Kyle Brookings on Wednesday, December 13, 2017

An area of low pressure that is presently over the Gulf of St. Lawrence will bring some heavy rain, heavy snow and strong winds to parts of Atlantic Canada today.

In Labrador heavy snow is expected with amounts of 20 to 30 cm possible. Locally 50 cm is possible. The snow will have some strong wind associated which will cause reduced visibility.

Along the west coast of Newfoundland, strong winds are expected to gust to 110 km/h.

Quebec will see both heavy rain and heavy snow.

Places such as Natashquan, Chevery, and Blanc-Sablon could pick up 50 mm of rain.

Areas under a winter storm warning could see 20 to 50 centimetres of snow.

Areas along coastal Quebec will see storm surge today. This may lead to coastal flooding.
