Heavy Rain to Invade Newfoundland

Posted by on Sunday, October 9, 2016

It appears as though heavy rain will invade Newfoundland on Holiday Monday.

A low over Labrador will act as a precursor bringing heavy rain to Labrador and the Maritimes where rainfall totals of 20 to 50 mm are possible.

Once the rain moves over Newfoundland the Low over Labrador will draw moisture from Matthew and bring drenching rain to the Island portion of the province.

The Avalon could pick up 60 to 100 mm. Central could get 30 to 80 mm and Western Newfoundland may receive 15 to 30 mm of rain. Some localized rainfall amounts of 100 mm are not out of the question.

The rain will be accompanied by strong wind.
