Heavy Rain & Snow for the West Coast of Newfoundland

Posted by on Thursday, November 26, 2015

Heavy rain and even some snow is tracking toward the west coast of Newfoundland. Some areas have the potential to see significant rain beginning Friday morning.

Precipitation will mainly fall in the form of rain until Saturday morning when a transition to snow is expected.

Coastal areas will see the most rain, anywhere from 40 to 70 mm is possible.

For the Northern Peninsula some significant snowfall is not out of the question. In fact over some higher elevations 5 to 15 cm is possible.

Winds will be quite gusty as well with gusts to 80 km/h possible.

Environment Canada has issued a Special weather statement for:
  • Corner Brook and vicinity
  • Gros Morne
  • Northern Peninsula East
  • Parson's Pond - Hawke's Bay
  • Port Saunders and the Straits &
  • Red Bay to L'Anse-au-Clair
The statement from Environment Canada can be read here.
