Heavy Rain and Strong Wind to Lash Newfoundland

An area of low pressure is bringing some rain for Newfoundland.

The rain started on Monday night and will continue through to Wednesday.

The rain is expected to become mixed with snow in the west and parts of central Newfoundland on Tuesday night, especially over higher terrain.

It is possible that the highest rainfall amounts will exceed 50 millimetres by Wednesday night, especially on the Avalon Peninsula.

Strong winds are expected to develop on the backside of the low on Tuesday night, with gusts possibly reaching 100 km/h.
