Heat Invades Western Canada

Posted by Kyle Brookings on Wednesday, June 20, 2018

Hot weather is having an impact on the western half of the country from British Columbia to northwestern Ontario and as far north as the Northwest Territories.
Maximum daily temperatures of 30 degrees or above and minimum overnight temperatures near 20 degrees is expected once again today.

In the Southwest Interior of British Columbia, daytime high temperatures have reached the low 30's today in the Central Interior and near 35 degrees in the Southwest Interior. This will end today as cooler weather moves in.

Those outside should consider rescheduling outdoor activities to cooler hours of the day, take frequent breaks from the heat, drink plenty of water and other non-alcoholic, non-caffeinated beverages to stay hydrated, and do not leave any person or pet inside a closed vehicle, for any length of time.

Several high temperature records were set in British Columbia, Alberta, and the Northwest Territories.
