Water Droplets on Clear Glass

There are two weather stories in Newfoundland.

The first is heat, there remains oppressive heat in portions of central and western areas of the province.

The heat will ease somewhat later today. There will be more clouds with showers and moderate some breezes. Temperatures will still rise into the mid to upper 20s over many areas, with humidex values in the low 30s.

Meanwhile there are rainfall warnings in effect for the Avalon Peninsula Southeast and Avalon Peninsula Southwest.
50 mm are expected in the heaviest showers by late this afternoon.

The northern Avalon, including St. John's may pick up 15 to 20 mm of rain.

Thundershowers are also possible.
