Heartbreaking Photos from Lee County Tornado

The US National Weather Service in Birmingham, Alabama have released photos that show the devastation left behind in Lee County from a tornado on Sunday that claimed 23 lives.

The tornado has been rated an EF-4, the second highest category.

Winds have been estimated at 170 mph (273 km/h).

Single-family homes were completely destroyed. 

Tornado damage has been found along County Road 39 just east of Cave Mill Road in southwestern Lee County.
