Groundhog Day is upon us once again and whether you believe the rodents or think that their record is mediocre at best, everyone wants to know if the furry four-legged Groundhogs see their shadow or not.

The tradition dates back to medieval Europe. According to folklore, if it is cloudy when a groundhog emerges from its burrow on this day, then spring will come early; if it is sunny, the groundhog will supposedly see its shadow and retreat back into its burrow, and the winter weather will persist for six more weeks.

There are three popular groundhogs, Ontario's Wiarton Willie, Shubenacadie Sam in Nova Scotia, and Punxsutawney Phil in Pennsylvania.

Here is the weather for Feburary 2, 2016
Wiarton: Mostly overcast. High 1°C.
Shubenacadie: A mix of sun and cloud. High minus 1°C.
Punxsutawney: A mix of sun and cloud. High 7°C. (45°F).
