Freezing Rain Event Likely in Ontario on Sunday

Posted by Kyle Brookings on Saturday, February 24, 2018

We are following an area of low pressure cruising from New Mexico to Southern Ontario.

The low will deliver a wide area of freezing rain to parts of Southern and Central Ontario.

Freezing rain or ice pellets will begin overnight or on Sunday morning.

At this time it looks like several hours of freezing rain are possible. Freezing rain will transition to rain on Sunday morning.

This, combined with strong winds will most like cause power outages.

In Northern Ontario snowfall amounts of 20 cm is possible in the heaviest snow.

Areas just north of Lake Ontario could pick up 15 to 25 mm of rain.
