The fire has destroyed 1,600 homes and buildings and forced 80,000 to evacuate the city.

Syncrude, Suncor, and NRL have all suspended operations.

The RCMP have successfully relocated approximately 2,500 cars and 7,500 people south on Highway 63 on Friday. Convoys resumed this morning at 6 am. A fuel station has been set up to provide gas to motorists waiting in line on the highway.

A special air quality statement in effect for the region. It will be hot again Saturday with temperatures getting up to 25 degrees. Over the next few days there is a chance of rain and temperatures will cool.
