Flooding Prompts State of Emergency in California

A state of emergency has been declared in five counties in California.

Governor Gavin Newsom made the declaration after widespread flooding.

Some towns are completely cut off and crews are working to create a link to them. 

One man was killed after trying to reach his children trapped in a flooded home. He drowned.

Late on Wednesday, the Russian River crested to its highest level in 25 years.

So far over 2,000 homes, businesses and other buildings were damaged.
