Flight Forced to land After Pilots Enter Wrong Coordinates

An AirAsia flight that was supposed to be heading to Malaysia was forced to land in Melbourne Australia after pilots entered the wrong coordinates.

The flight carrying 212 passengers was incorrectly guided to Melbourne.

When manually entering the coordinates of the plane's position, the pilot incorrectly entered the longitude from a sign outside the cockpit window as 01519.8 east instead of 15109.8 east, the report said.

As a result, the plane's systems thought the plane was 11,000 kilometers  away from its initial position.
