Flash Flood Concern For Avalon and Eastern NL

Posted by Kyle Brookings on Saturday, July 29, 2017

A low pressure system is expected to move across southeastern Newfoundland Saturday night and into Sunday.

The Avalon, southeast and northeast coasts are in for a plethora of rainfall.

Environment and Climate Change Canada have issued special weather statements for the Avalon Peninsula North, Avalon Peninsula Southeast, Avalon Peninsula Southwest, Bonavista Peninsula, Burin Peninsula, Clarenville and vicinity, Connaigre, St. John's and vicinity, and Terra Nova.

We expect rain to begin late this afternoon over the south coast and will reach the Avalon after Midnight.

Heavy rainfall like this can cause flash flooding and hydroplaning.
