First Tornado of the Season

Environment Canada has confirmed the first tornado of the season in Alberta.

Personnel from Environment Canada are investigating events from April 13.

They have concluded one tornado and two dust devils.

At approximately 3:50 p.m. MDT on Wednesday April 13 an enhanced Fujita scale zero tornado occurred on the eastern side of Calgary, near the intersection of Highway 1 and Stoney Trail. The length and width of the tornado track are undetermined. No damage was reported from this tornado and thus the rating is EF0. 

Alberta has had 1 confirmed tornado so far this year. Alberta normally has 15 tornadoes each year in a season that runs from April until September.
