A fire that forced residents to evacuate at Fort Carson in Colorado is now fully contained.

Residents are allowed to return home.

Damage was widespread from the fire that broke out on Friday.

Military officials said that a training exercise was underway at the time the fire started but haven't said whether it caused the fire.

Multiple homes located off the base in El Paso County were among the structures destroyed.

Fort Carson is a United States Army installation located in unincorporated El Paso County, Colorado, near the city of Colorado Springs.
